What makes us the best for
our clients? Well, here are just a few reasons why.......
- We have a loyal, dedicated,
trained, and well looked-after workforce.
- We will always be
completely honest with you. If we can't help you
(which is highly unlikely!), we'll tell you right there
and then so
that you can make other arrangements. Employment agencies
generally have a reputation for letting
customers down at the last minute because of the practice
of not being completely honest with their customers. Not PSR. This is
not an empty promise - it is a staff rule.
- If you're not happy with a
member of our workforce, and you tell us you're not happy within four hours of
the person starting work with you, you won't be charged. Again, this isn't
'sales-speak' - it's printed in our Terms and Conditions of Business.
- If you ARE happy with a
member of our staff then, provided they have worked with you for an agreed
short period, you may employ them free of any charge whatsoever.
Each year over the the past three years, the total
turnover on permanent placement fees at PSR
is......zero!! Like all large companies, our
accounts are public so you can verify this easily
yourself. In our sector, charging a placement fee
for an unskilled worker can actually prevent that person
from being hired. We don't believe that agencies
should be about putting obstacles between an applicant
and a job.
- You can contact us 24 hours
a day by telephone, email or fax. Or, if it's more convenient, our duty
consultant can call you at regular pre-arranged times and intervals (including
weekends, public holidays and nights).
- Our office staff are
trained by the Recruitment and Employment
Confederation.
- We have a groundbreaking
"Standby System". We'll keep up to 30 temps on standby for you on any day in
case you should need them quickly. They're here at our office from 7am and we
will keep them here for you, ready to go, until 10am. After this time, if you
didn't need all or any of them, we send them out on other jobs. There's no cost
for this service if you already use five or more of our temps. Standby Teams
can be made up of any type of staff (cleaners, drivers, catering staff, etc.),
and any combination of staff too (some cleaners, some catering assistants
some porters
etc.).
- We'll work with you if you
have a strict budget. We make our profit not on our margins, but on the
volume of staff we send out. This gives us greater flexibility than most when
it comes to setting our rates. You can give us a budget figure and a project,
and we'll work with you to make sure that you stay within budget, yet still get
the service you need. We're a large company, so we can even place invoicing 'on
hold' so that you can apply our charges to a future budgetary period.
- You tell us when (or if)
you want to see us. One of our consultants will visit you as frequently (or
infrequently) as you wish. Some of our clients like weekly visits to address
any problems whilst they remain fresh, other clients don't like to be bothered
by a visit at all!
- Our staff vetting system
can be trusted. We ensure that all staff are reference-checked and have proved
their eligibility to work here in the UK. All documentation is kept on file and
is available to you if required. When our staff register for work, they
complete a declaration relating to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
stating that they have no convictions (even one considered as 'spent' under the
act). So if your positions are exempt under the Act, we've got it covered!
PSR is an approved "Umbrella" Organisation with the CRB
(the Criminal Records Bureau); this means that we have
the ability to obtain Criminal Record Disclosures for
our staff as appropriate. Because we're an
Umbrella Organisation, we can apply for Disclosures for
YOUR staff too! If you might be interested in
using this service, you can speak to Chris Gibson or
Nikki Deegan - our CRB Countersignatories.
- There is minimal
paperwork for you to process. Just one timesheet for all
of your staff (or individual timesheets if you prefer).
We'll supply all stationery but, if you run out
unexpectedly, you can print out timesheets directly from
our web site! (The "Print A Timesheet" option is over on
the left of this page)
- Where appropriate, all
uniforms/protective clothing is/are supplied by us at our cost. We have a
massive stock of catering coats, overalls, housekeeping jackets, tabards,
protective footwear, disposable headgear, polo shirts and protective gloves. If
you have a specific requirement we will always do our best to accommodate at
our cost.
- Every member of our
workforce is provided with a hi-tech ID/Security badge.
They cannot be forged, are valid for only a limited
period, and are only renewed and issued to staff who are
are legally entitled to work in the UK/EU.
- If you require, for
every 15 members of staff you have, we will provide a
16th free of charge to cover
any sickness or unforeseen absence that may occur. Whether there's absence or
not, you still get to keep the free member of staff.
- Our staff are fully insured
by us (at our cost) whilst working on your site.

Why
we're the best for our Workers |
What makes us the best for
our workforce? Here's a list of just some of the 'PSR Differences' :
- If there is ever any
error with your wages, the error will be fixed
immediately (our error level for 2004 was just
0.0037%!). This means you can have any money that we owe you right then and
there. No waiting until next weeks' wages like other agencies.
- We'll almost always help
you with an advance if you need money to get to work.
- Our minimum pay rate is 40p
above the National Minimum Wage rate (to cover your holiday pay), and we don't
discriminate against you if you're under 21 - we wouldn't dare offend you with
a lower hourly rate than an
older person doing the same job!
- You can change jobs as often
as you wish (all the time there's suitable work available). You don't have to make any
long-term commitment to us, your commitment lasts for as long as the
booking!
- If you want to work
long-term just ask and we'll do our best to find you a long-term booking.
- If you want to work
permanently for one of our clients then you can, and it's easier to do it with
us because we don't charge our clients a "placement fee" of any kind. If they
like you, and you like them, and there's a vacancy open, we won't ever put the
brakes on your application with a huge invoice!
- You are important to us.
Unlike other agencies, we don't treat our staff like sheep - herding them off
to clients' sites. You pay our wages. Without you, we would have no customers
and there would be no PSR. We never forget this.
- We provide
free
training - some os which
is compulsory for some jobs - everything from Basic
Food Hygiene to Manual Handling to Infection Control
in Hospitals to AIDS/HIV
Awareness courses. As part of our Investors in People recognition, your
development is as important to us as it is to you.
- If you go to a job and you
hate it, just call us. We won't sack you just because you don't like a job - we
understand that not all jobs are suitable for all people. Just let us know, and
we'll get you covered and find something else for you.
- Whether you want to be a
'professional' temp (a person who is happy temping long-term, full-time) or a
'casual' temp (a person who just works occasional days here and there), we can
help you.
